Meet Carmelle Robinson
I was once a dispensary technician in a local pharmacy.
‘I need to take shares out in this pharmacy I’m in here getting prescriptions so often’ I heard for the hundredth time that day, along with ‘ I’m going to start to rattle when I walk once I get these new pills’.
I was dispensing medications as well as packing webster packs for the nursing home.
How many medications could a person be on until they were on too many? Apparently 13, 14 or even 15 is ok – but why so many? That’s right, side effects.
Each medication has a list of side effects, that you MAY not get, but could - and if you do, guess what? There's a pill for that too.
Surely being on so many medications is dangerous. Surely there is a better way? I thought as I typed in the names of the drugs into the computer system.
I knew we had a vitamins section, but we were often told to be cautious about vitamins. Cautious about vitamins? Aren’t they natural?
I started venturing into the vitamins aisle, doing my own research & started recommending them more to the customers.
Unfortunately, my personal recommendations were ruffling some feathers in the dispensary.
I knew I wanted to be more than a dispensary technician and further my study – up until this point I even considered becoming a pharmacist. But once I started doing my own research, I could see that medications were not the only way to achieve health.
I decided to go to university and study nutritional medicine. I had always loved food and now I had the desire to use it to benefit not only my health & the health of others.
As my knowledge & passion grew so did my confidence, which conflicted with the pharmacists opinion, so I decide to leave the pharmacy.
Before I knew it, I was reading labels of everything I bought at the supermarket, checking to see where I could get the best local produce, making my meals nutrient dense, reducing my coffee intake & slowly ridding my pantry of highly processed foods.
This was just the beginning though, health became my lifestyle. I started to exercise, I even became concerned about toxins in my home & looked into natural household products, skin care & make up.
I found energy I didn’t even know I could have.
I lost weight I didn’t even know I could lose.
I found a lifestyle that provided me with an incredible vitality for life.
I had to share this with others.
I finished my degree and decided to start up my own business.
I wanted to share my knowledge and make it accessible. I wanted everyone to know how simple it could be to achieve good health. I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to be heard and to be treated holistically.
I wanted everyone to have the new vitality I had for life – and so Vitality Holistic Nutrition was born.
